MDH – the Indian spice brand – has strongly denied allegations of using a cancer-causing pesticide, ethylene oxide, in its spices following a ban of sale of two Indian spice companies – MDH and Everest in Hong Kong and Singapore.
“The allegations lack evidence and are thus baseless and unsubstantiated,” MDH strongly emphasised on the statement.
“The allegations of the presence of ethylene oxide in our products is untrue and lack any substantiating evidence. We reassure our buyers and consumers that we do not use Ethylene Oxide (ETO) at any stage of storing, processing, or packing our spices. We abides by health and safety standards, both domestically and internationally,” the spice maker company added.
Despite Singapore Food Agency (SFA) warned of the presence of the cancer-causing chemical in MDH’s Madras Curry Powder, Mixed Masala Powder, and Sambhar Masala – and Everest’s Fish Curry Masala, the former continues to strongly assure its commitment to maintaining quality and authenticity of its spices to its customers.
“MDH tagline "Asli Masale Sach Sach, MDH MDH" and "Real Spices of India" reflect our genuine commitment to providing authentic, high-quality spices to customers,” MDH noted.
